NOTE: All of the yous and yours underlined as "you" and "your" indicates that the you and the your are plural. Also any of the words that are in bold pink lettering as "you" refers to the feminine gender, but it is only applied when it does not commonly refer to a woman. This only is applied to this week's Torah portion text at this time.

CHAPTER 1
Numbers 1:1-54

Num 1:1 And hwhy spoke to Moses in the Wilderness of Sinai in the Tent of Appointment, on the one of the second renewed month, in the second year to their going out from the land of Egypt, to say, 2 Lift up (Bear) ta-the heads of all of the Congregation of the Sons of Israel by their families, by the house of their fathers, among the enrollment (scroll, number) of names, of every remembered one (male) by their skulls (rolls); 3 from a son of twenty years and the upward (ascending), of all going out armed in Israel: you, you and Aaron shall visit (account, count) them by their armies. 4 And a man, a man, they shall be with you, a man to the tribe; he is a man of a head to (of) the house of his fathers. 5 And these are the names of the men which they shall stand with you:

ta-the Charge of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Witness). 54 And the Sons of Israel, they did according to [(as)] all which hwhy commanded ta-Moses, so they did.

(NOTE: Not all verses will have comments)

I give credit to Mark Biltz of El Shaddai Ministries for revealing this, because it was the first time that I have heard about it. Looking at these accounts in the book of Exodus, if one has not noticed, the whole book of Leviticus had a time span, from the beginning of chapter one to the end of chapter twenty seven, of "one month", because it notes the Torah portion of P'kudey, in the book of Exodus, it says

Exodus 40:17 And was, in the first renewed month in the second year, on the one of the renewed month, the Tabernacle was raised up. 18 And Moses raised up ta-the Tabernacle,...

And in this week's Torah portion chapter, it says

Numbers 1:1
And hwhy spoke to Moses in the Wilderness of Sinai in the Tent of Appointment, on the one of the second renewed month, in the second year to their going out from the land of Egypt,...

T
he book of Numbers will cover the rest of the thirty eight years of the Israelites' journey.

At this point, the Israelites have been at Mount Sinai for nine months and fourteen days, because in calculatng, their stop to Mount Sinai occurred on the seventeenth day of the third month of Sivan.

Looking at the word SINAI

The Hebrew word for Sinai is "See-nai"- Samek, Yod, Nun, Yod (
ynyo). It is from Strong's Concordance number 5514, and its definition

Of uncertain derivation; Sinai, a mountain of Arabia: - Sinai.

It doesn't say its true meaning here, but after researching, the root definition is based in the Torah potion of Sh'moth, in the book of Exodus

Exodus 3:1 And Moses was tending (shepherding) ta-the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law, priest of Midian: and guided (led) ta-the flock behind the wilderness, and came to the Mountain of The Elohim, to Horeb. 2 And the Messenger of hwhy appeared to him in a Flame of Fire from the midst of the bramble bush (thorn bush): And saw, and behold, the bramble bush (thorn bush) was kindling in the fire, and the bramble bush (thorn bush) was not consumed. 3 And Moses said, I will bend aside (turn aside) now, and I will see ta-this Great Sight why (what is known) the bramble bush (thorn bush) is not kindled.

Looking at the word THORN BUSH

The Hebrew word for thorn bush is "s'neh"- Samek, Nun, Heh (
hno). It is from Strong's Concordance number 5572, and its definition

From an unused root meaning to prick; a bramble: - bush.

It also means "thorn bush" based on the translation "prick", or one can call it "pricking bush". As we now know, this is the location of Mount Sinai where the "thorn bushes" are located, and hence, this is what the Wilderness of Sinai was most likely known to have thorn bushes in the region.

It doesn't say its true meaning here, but it is derived from Strong's Concordance 5572 "s'neh", the thorn bush, or pricking bush, noted above. The Wilderness of Sinai is a wilderness of the thorn bush, or the pricking bush.

This was where
hwhy was "pricking" Moses to start his new mission and occupation. This is comparable to my commentary in the Torah portion of Va-Y'khi, in the book of Genesis when the Israelites were located at the threshing floor at Almah, before they crossed over to the land of Canaan to bury their father, Jacob, and the Egyptians stayed behind, which was the brothers' act to thresh out the Egyptians through the Thorn Trees (in the Hebrew Atad dja). Similarly, this is what Moses is about to experience by being pricked from his previous occupation to his new "Kingdom Occupation"

This is where the Israelites get "pricked" in receiving the Ten Words (Commandments) from hwhy. This also applies to us as believers in Yeshua by getting "spiritually pricked" when we are to receive the Word, especially a Rhema Word, from our Heavenly Father. Yeshua is "the Word" made flesh, which is noted in the Gospel of John

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Elohim, and the Word was Elohim. 2 The same was in the beginning with Elohim. 3 All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made.... 14 And the Word was made Flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His Glory, the Glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

We have been spiritually pricked to receive Yeshua as our Lord and Savior, and are continuously being pricked to continuously receive His Word daily in our walk with Him. This is also what the Heavenly Father does to us in our lives by being "spiritually pricked" in our spiritual Wilderness of Sinai"
to receive Yeshua, as our Lord and Savior, and to continuously receive His Word daily in our walk in Him.

REUBEN

El
is my rock - Spreader of light

This makes the phrase:

El is my Rock, the speader of light

This is Yeshua, the Light of the World, who spreads His Light through us to others, to make them lights in Yeshua. An example of this is noted in the Gospel of John

John 1:4 In Him was Life; and the Life was the light of men. 9 That was the True Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

SIMEON

El is my peace - My rock is Almighty

This makes the phrase:

El is my peace, and my rock is Almighty

When Yeshua left, He gave peace to His disciples, which is noted in the Gospel of John,
and in the apostle Paul's letter to the assembly in Corinth

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, My Peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

1 Corinthians 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Messiah.

JUDAH

Enchantor or observer - My People volunteer

This makes the phrase:

His enchanting makes My People volunteer

The enchanting is
hwhy's Word, and Yeshua became the Living Word made flesh, which is noted in the Gospel of John

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Elohim, and the Word was Elohim. 2 The same was in the beginning with Elohim.... 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His Glory, the Glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

ISSACHAR

Given
of El - Small

This makes the phrase:

What was given of El is a small thing

This is Yeshua the Heavenly whom Father gave to us, which is noted in the Gospel of John

John 3:16 For hwhy so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

ZEBULUN

El my father
- Strong

This makes the phrase:

The El of my Father is strong

This is Yeshua, who is the Strong One. An example of this is
regarding his own personal experience is the apostle Paul's experience, which he noted in his letter to the assembly in Corinth

2 Corinthians 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. 8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. 9 And He said unto me, My Grace is sufficient for thee: for My Strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Messiah may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Messiah's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

EPHRAIM

My El hears
- My People are beautiful

This makes the phrase:

My El hears, because My People are beautiful

This is, because those who are believers in Yeshua are His Bride. It is noted in the Gospel of John

John 3:29 He that hath the Bride is the Bridegroom: but the Friend of the Bridegroom, which standeth and heareth Him, rejoiceth greatly because of the Bridegroom's Voice: this My Joy therefore is fulfilled.

MANA
SSEH

El
is my reward - A rock that ransoms

This makes the phrase:

El is my reward, and He is a rock that ransoms

Yeshua is the Rock that ransomed us to be His Reward. There is an example of Him as the parable of the Rock, which is noted in the Gospel of Matthew

Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of Mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a Rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a Rock.

BENJAMIN

My father judges
- A warrior

This makes the phrase:

My Father who judges is a warrior

This is exampled in the book of Joshua

Joshua 5:13 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a Man over against him with His Sword drawn in His Hand: and Joshua went unto Him, and said unto Him, Art Thou for us, or for our adversaries? 14 And He said, Nay; but as Captain of the Army (Host) of hwhy am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto Him, What saith my Lord unto His servant? 15 And the Captain of the hwhy's Army (Host) said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is Holy. And Joshua did so.

DAN

My brother helps
- My People of Almighty

This makes the phrase:

My brother helps My People of the Almighty

This could be Yeshua telling us as believers of
hwhy, as well as being brothers in Yeshua, that we are the Almighty's helpers.

ASHER

El
is my intercessor - Afflict

This makes the phrase:

El is My intercessor, because He became afflicted for us

Yeshua was scourged, marred and bruised for us, which is noted in the book of Isaiah

Isaiah 53:4 Surely He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of El, and afflicted. 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the Chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His Stripes we are healed.

Yeshua also became our intercessor for us as well in the Kingdom of Heaven. An example of this is when He prayed for His disciple, Peter (Kefa in Hebrew), as noted in the Gospel of Luke

Luke 22:31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: 32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. 33 And he said unto Him, Lord, I am ready to go with Thee, both into prison, and to death. 34 And He said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest Me.

There are examples that Yeshua has interceded. They are noted in the apostle Paul's letters to the assembly in Rome, and in the book of Hebrews

Romans 8:34 Who is He that condemneth? It is Messiah that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the Right Hand of hwhy, who also maketh intercession for us.

Hebrews 7:22 By so much was Yeshua made a surety of a better testament. 23 And they truly were many Priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: 24 But this Man, because He continueth ever, hath an unchangeable Priesthood. 25 Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto
hwhy by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them.

GAD

El
shall gather - El knows

This makes the phrase:

El shall gather, and El knows (when that will be)

This is what Yeshua mentioned regarding the Heavenly Father knowing the day and hour for Yeshua's return, and it is related to the Fall High Holy Days. It is noted in the Parable of the Ten Virgins, which
is noted in the Gospel of Matthew

Matthew 25:1 Then shall the Kingdom of Heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the Bridegroom. 2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: 4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 While the Bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. 6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the Bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet Him. 7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. 9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. 10 And while they went to buy, the Bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the Marriage: and the door was shut. 11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Adon, Adon, open to us. 12 But He answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. 13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of Man cometh.

THE PARABLE OF THE TEN VIRGINS

NAPHTALI

My brother
is evil - Eyes or appearance

This make the phrase:

My brother is evil through his eyes

Throughout the four Gospels, Yeshua was dealing with His Jewish brothers, the Jewish Pharisees, Saducees, Lawyers, Scribes, the Priests and the High Priest who were evil in their eyes to find a way to kill Yeshua.

Looking at the number of each of the tribes able to go to war, from twenty to fifty years

Reuben: 46,500
Simeon: 59,300
Judah: 74,600
Issachar: 54,400
Zebulun: 57,400
Ephraim: 40,500
Manasseh: 32,200
Benjamin: 35,400
Dan: 62,700
Asher: 41,500
Gad: 45,650
Naphtali: 53,400
Total: 603,550

Looking at these numbers, they were within the estimate when the Israelites left Egypt, which is noted in the Torah portion of Bo, in the book of Numbers

Exodus 12:37 And the Sons of Israel, they journeyed (pulled up) from Rameses to Succoth according to [(as)] six hundred thousand mighty men of foot, by apart from the little ones. 38 And also a mixed multitude ascended with them; and flocks, and herds, much heavy livestock.

These men could be as old as 120 years, and they are counted as men going to war. Based on this number, one can guarantee that these men able to go to war had a wife and most of them had one child. That makes the total of the Israelites to an estimate of 1,600,000 people. Guaranteed that a good amount had more than one child, if not, between three and ten, we can configure the updated amount between 2,000,000 and 2,500,ooo, and maybe potentially as high as 3,000,000. This was not one little ditty Camp, this was "a major city" of a People that was journeying in the wilderness, and they had cattle, sheep and goats.

This is what the The Interactive Bible website says regarding a Rolling Stones concert:

"On July 30, 2003, 450,000 people easily fit into an area of 2.3 square/km to see the [Rolling Stones]".

This is an image of the view of roughly 450,000 people

450,000 People

According to Yahoo Search, 2.5 square kilometers = 1 square mile. This concert of 450,000 people covers less than one square mile. Divide 450,000 by 2,500,000, equals 5.5 square miles. This calculation does not include the spacing for a tent for each family, herds, sheep and goats. This would at least triple the amount of space of potentially 15.5 square miles for 2,500,000 people. That's a lot of coverage. According to the Demographia website, at their page titled "2000 Census: US Municipalities Over 50,000: Ranked by 2000 Population", Quincy, Massachusetts is 16.7 square miles big (1990 Population- 84,985), and Newport Beach City, California is 14.8 square miles big
(1990 Population- 70,032).

CHAPTER 2
Numbers 2:1-34

Num 2:1 And
hwhy spoke to Moses and to Aaron, to say, 2 A man shall be upon his standard (banner, flag) among the signs of the house of their fathers, the Sons of Israel, they shall encamp: they shall encamp from before [(from the front)] all around the Tent of Appointment.

They shall pull up (journey) first.

visit (account, count) were six and forty thousand and the five hundred. 12 And of the ones encamped upon him shall be the tribe of Simeon: and the ruler of the sons of Simeon was Shelumiel, son of Zurishaddai. 13 And his army, and their visit (account, count) were nine and the fifty thousand and three hundred. 14 And of the tribe of Gad: and the ruler of the sons of Gad was Eliasaph, son of Reuel. 15 And his army, and their visit (account, count) were five and forty thousand and six hundred and the fifty. 16 All that were visited (accounted, counted) of the Camp of Reuben were a hundred thousand and one and the fifty thousand and four hundred and the fifty, by their armies. (NOTE: Not all verses will have comments)

Notice that the sides of these Camps were given unconventional locations:

East: Rising
South: Right
West: Sea
North: Hidden

These were taken from the Hebrew words:

Rising: Meez-rakh (xrzm), meaning the sun rising
Right: Tey-mahn (nmyt) (which is feminine of yamin), as in Been-yah-meen, as in Benjamin, meaning son of the right
Sea: Yohm (
My), meaning sea
North: Tsah-phohn (
Npu), meaning hidden, or dark

There are purposes for these specific uses of these words, in applying to thses four Camp. These name locations are telling us something. The rightward (southward) location is saying the right side of the location is the "right hand". The Entrance is toward the sun rising, at the east. The seaward side is saying that it would be in a position, for instance in Israel, toward the Meditteranean Sea. The hidden (northward) side is regarding the hidden, or "uncharted" area. When we view our modern magnetic compasses, it functions as a pointer to the "magnetic north", but according to
hwhy's Magnetic Compass, His Compass' functions as a pointer to the "magnetic east", towards the rising of the sun. That's the Compass we are to use for hwhy's Mind Thought throughout the Tanakh, and not our western compass.

Looking at the amounts of each of the four Camps:

EAST (RISING) CAMP (FIRST TO PULL UP)

Judah, Issachar, Zebulun:
186,400

RIGHT CAMP (SOUTH CAMP) (SECOND TO PULL UP)

Reuben, Simeon, Gad:
151,450

SEA CAMP (WEST CAMP) (THIRD TO PULL UP)

Ephraim, Manasseh, Benjamin:
108,100

HIDDEN CAMP (NORTH CAMP) (FOURTH TO PULL UP)

Dan, Asher, Naphtali:
157,600

These are their names, and their meanings:

EAST (RISING) CAMP

Judah:
Praise
Issachar: Hire/Reward
Zebulun: Habitation

Putting the meaning of their names together, it makes a phrase:

Praise is hired to habitate

This is Yeshua who was hired by the Heavenly Father to habitate on the earth, to save us from eternal death. An example of this is noted in the Gospel of John

John 10:17 Therefore doth My Father love Me, because I lay down My Life, that I might take It again. 18 No man taketh It from Me, but I lay It down of Myself. I have Power to lay It down, and I have Power to take It again. This Commandment have I received of My Father.

RIGHT CAMP (SOUTH CAMP)

Reuben:
See, a Son
Simeon: Heard
Gad: Troop

Putting the meaning of their names together,
it makes a phrase:

See, a Son heard a troop

This could relate to Yeshua hearing the troop of men coming against Him at the Garden, which is noted in the Gospel of John

John 18:1 When Yeshua had spoken these Words, He went forth with His disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which He entered, and His disciples. 2 And Judas also, who betrayed Him, knew the place: for Yeshua ofttimes resorted thither with His disciples. 3 Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the Chief Priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons. 4 Yeshua therefore, knowing all things that should come upon Him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye? 5 They answered Him, Yeshua, of Nazareth. Yeshua saith unto them, I am He. And Judas also, which betrayed Him, stood with them.

This could indirectly relate to Yeshua hearing the camp of the enemy in the end times, which is noted in the book of Revelation

Revelation 9:13 And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the Golden Altar which is before hwhy, 14 Saying to the sixth angel which had the Trumpet (Shofar), Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. 15 And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men. 16 And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them. 17 And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone. 18 By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths. 19 For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt. 20 And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: 21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

SEA CAMP (WEST CAMP)

Ephraim: Fruitful
Manasseh: Forget
Benjamin: Son of the Right

Putting the meaning of their names together, it makes a phrase:

The fruit that was forgotten is the Son of the Right

This is Yeshua who is the Son of the Right Hand. Yeshua revealed this as Himself, which is noted in the Gospel of John

Matthew 26:62 And the High Priest arose, and said unto Him, Answerest Thou nothing? What is it which these witness against Thee? 63 But Yeshua held His Peace. And the High Priest answered and said unto Him, I adjure Thee by the Living Elohim, that Thou tell us whether Thou be the Messiah, the Son of Elohim. 64 Yeshua saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of Man sitting on the Right Hand of Power, and coming in the clouds of Heaven.

NORTH CAMP

Dan: Judge
Asher: Happy, Blessed
Naphtali: Wrestling

Putting the meaning of their names together, it makes a phrase:

The Judge who has blessed through His wrestling

This would be Yeshua who was blessed to go through the scourging and His crucifixion during Passover, which is noted in the Gospel of John

John 10:17 Therefore doth My Father love Me, because I lay down My Life, that I might take It again. 18 No man taketh It from Me, but I lay It down of Myself. I have Power to lay It down, and I have Power to take It again. This Commandment have I received of My Father.

Lastly in this week's Torah portion chapter, notice that the four camps' order to leave is in a clockwise direction: east, south, west, north.

These are the meanings of each of the tribal family names' meanings:

LEVI

Joined

This would be Yeshua, who is "joined" to us through His blood.

AARON

This has two different meanings:

FIRST PHRASE

An ark (one plucked) that is offered freely by his father, whose El is a helper, like a coveting palm tree

The "Ark" is a type and shadow of the "Living Tabernacle", who is Yeshua, the Tabernacle, who came in the flesh who came down from the Kingdom of Heaven, which is noted in the Gospel of John

John 1:14 And the Word was made Flesh, and dwelt among us,

Looking at the word DWELT

The Greek word for dwelt is "skey-noh-oh" (skhnow). It is from Strong's Concordance number 4637, and its definiton

From G4636; to tent or encamp, that is, (figuratively) to occupy (as a mansion) or (specifically) to reside (as God did in the Tabernacle of old, a symbol fo protection and communion): - dwell.

from 4636 "skey-nohs"
(skhnoj), and its definition

From G4633; a hut or temporary residence, that is, (figuratively) the human body (as the abode of the spirit): - tabernacle.

from 4633 "skey-ney"
(skhnh), and its definition

Apparently akin to G4632 and G4639; a tent or cloth hut (literally or figuratively): - habitation, tabernacle.

from 4632 "skeeoo-ohs" (
skeuoj), and its definition

Of uncertain affinity; a vessel, implement, equipment or apparatus (literally or figuratively [specifically a wife as contributing to the usefulness of the husband]): - goods, sail, stuff, vessel.

Looking at the majority of these Greek words, it has the same first part of the word, "skeyn"
(skhn). This is where we get our modern English word "skin". In Yeshua's case, He used His "Skin" as His "Tabernacle" to dwell upon the earth. It was at this point, that when Yeshua was born, He became a "Human Tabernacle", and hence, He was also born at the point where Tabernacles (or Booths, or Dwelling Places) were used on the Feast of Sukkoth (Tabernacles).

SECOND PHRASE

One plucked that was offered freely by his father, whose El is a helper, like a coveting palm tree

This was Yeshua who was plucked by the Jewish authorities, the Jewish People and the Roman soldiers, who offered Himself freely by the Heavenly Father, which is noted in the Gospel of John

John 3:16 For hwhy so loved the world, that he gave His only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have Everlasting Life. 17 For hwhy sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.

GERSHON

A stranger who is white, who is famous and is heard

This is Yeshua, and the information is noted by the apostle John in the book of Revelation

Revelation 1:13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of Man, clothed with a Garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a Golden Girdle. 14 His Head and His Hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his Eyes were as a flame of fire; 15 And His Feet like unto fine copper, as if they burned in a furnace; and His Voice as the sound of many waters. 16 And He had in his Right Hand seven stars: and out of His mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and His Countenance was as the sun shineth in His Strength. 17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His Feet as dead. And He laid His Right Hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the First and the Last: 18 I am He that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of Hell and of Death.

KOHATH

An ally of an exalted people of a glistened (enchanted) association whose is the strength of El
or
An ally of an exalted people pressed to be joined to the strength of El.

This is Yeshua who was with the glistened (enchanted) assocation, or the exalted people, of the Jewish community during His day.

MERARI

Bitter and grieved with weakness and sickness who has sensitive feelings.

This is also Yeshua who took on our sins, iniquities, sickness and emotional traumas to the cross.

GERSHONITES (Camped in the west of the Tabernacle)

Eliasaph: El is a Gatherer
(Father) Lael: To El

Putting their meanings together, it makes a phrase:

El is a Gatherer to El

This is Yeshua who will gather His people in the end times, which is noted in the apostle Paul's letter to the assembly in Thessalonica

1 Thessalonians 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Yeshua died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Yeshua will the Lord bring with Him. 15 For this we say unto you by the Word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself shall descend from the heavens with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the Trump (Shofar) of hwhy: and the dead in Messiah shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

KOHATHITES (Camped in the south of the Tabernacle)

(El is my treasure, El is my strength)

This is what is noted by the apostle John, in the book of Revealtion, the book of the Chronicles, and by king David in the book of the Psalms

Revelation 5:11 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; 12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

Revelation 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in the heavens, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the Kingdom of our Elohim, and the power of his Messiah: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our Elohim day and night. 11 And they overcame him by the Blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

1 Chronicles 16:11 Seek
hwhy and His Strength, seek His Face continually.

Psalm 27:1 A Psalm of David.
hwhy is my Light and my Salvation; whom shall I fear? hwhy is the Strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

RULERS OF THE LEVITES (Camped in the east of the Tabernacle)

Eleazar: El Helps (Or El is My Help)
(Father) Aaron: Ark

Putting their meanings together, it makes a phrase:

El helps with the Ark

This is Yeshua who is our current High Priest since the past 2,000 years, which is noted by the apostle Paul, in the book of Hebrews

Hebrews 5:1 For every High Priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to hwhy, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: 2 Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity. 3 And by reason hereof he ought, as for the People, so also for himself, to offer for sins. 4 And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but He that is called of hwhy, as was Aaron. 5 So also Messiah glorified not Himself to be made an High Priest; but He that said unto Him, Thou art My Son, to day have I begotten Thee. 6 As He saith also in another place, Thou art a Priest for ever after the order of Melki Tsedek. 7 Who in the days of His Flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto Him that was able to save Him from death, and was heard in that He feared; 8 Though He were a Son, yet learned He obedience by the things which He suffered; 9 And being made Perfect, He became the Author of Eternal Salvation unto all them that obey Him; 10 Called of hwhy an High Priest after the order of Melki Tsedek. 11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. 12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the Oracles of the Lord; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. 13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

Hebrews 9:1 Then verily the First Covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly Sanctuary. 2 For there was a Tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the Menorah, and the Table, and the Bread of Faces; which is called the Sanctuary. 3 And after the Second Veil, the Tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all; 4 Which had the Golden Censer, and the Ark of the Covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the Golden Pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the Tablets of the Covenant; 5 And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the Mercy Seat; of which we cannot now speak particularly. 6 Now when these things were thus ordained, the Priests went always into the first Tabernacle, accomplishing the Service of
hwhy. 7 But into the second went the High Priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the People: 8 The Holy Spirit this signifying, that the way into the Holiest of All was not yet made manifest, while as the first Tabernacle was yet standing: 9 Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; 10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation. 11 But Messiah being come an High Priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect Tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; 12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by His own Blood He entered in once into the Holy Place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. 13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 14 How much more shall the Blood of Messiah, who through the Eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to hwhy, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the Living Elohim? 15 And for this cause He is the Mediator of the New Covenant, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the First Covenant, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. 16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the Covenentor. 17 For a covenant is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the Covenantor liveth. 18 Whereupon neither the first Covenant was dedicated without blood. 19 For when Moses had spoken every Precept to all of the People according to the Teaching (Torah), he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all of the People, 20 Saying, This is the Blood of the Covenant which hwhy hath enjoined unto you. 21 Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the Tabernacle, and all the Vessels of the ministry. 22 And almost all things are by the Teaching (Torah) purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. 23 It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24 For Messiah is not entered into the Holy Places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into Heaven itself, now to appear in the Presence of hwhy for us: 25 Nor yet that He should offer Himself often, as the High Priest entereth into the Holy Place every year with blood of others; 26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the Sacrifice of Himself. 27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: 28 So Messiah was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for Him shall He appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

MERARI (Camped in the north of the Tabernacle)

Zuriel: The Rock of El (Or El is My Rock)
(Father) Abihail: Father of Might (Or Father of My Might)

Putting their meanings together, it makes a phrase:

The rock of El is the Father of might

Yeshua is the Rock, which is noted in the apostle Paul's letter to the assembly in Corinth

1 Corinthians 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Messiah.

Yeshua is also the Everlasting Father, which is noted in the book of the prophet Isaiah

Isaiah 9:6 For a Child was birthed to us, a Son was given to us: and the Government, she shall be upon His Shoulders: and His Name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, the Mighty El, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.

Putting all the locations of each of the twelve tribes and the Levitical tribes, this is how a chart of the Israelite Camp would look like

Israelite Camp

Verses ten and thirty eight

10 And you shall visit (account, muster, bestow, oversee, commit) ta-Aaron and ta his sons, and they shall guard (keep, observe, watch) ta-their Priestship (Priesthood): and the stranger that comes near shall die.

38 And the ones encamping to the face of the Tabernacle to the east, to the face of the Tent of Appointment, at the rayrising (sunrising), shall be Moses, and Aaron and his sons, Guarders (Keepers, Observers, Watchers) of the Charge of the Sanctuary for the Charge of the Sons of Israel; and the stranger that comes near shall die.

What does hwhy mean when he says "stranger"? Does He mean anyone who is not of the Priestly tribe? Does it mean those who are not of the native born?

Looking at the word STRANGER

The Hebrew word for "stranger" is "zoor"- Zayin, Vav, Resh (
rwz). It comes from the Strong's Concordance number 2114, and its definition

A primitive root; to turn aside (especially for lodging); hence to be a foreigner, strange, profane; specifically (active participle) to commit adultery: - (come from) another (man, place), fanner, go away, (e-) strange (-r, thing, woman).

Looking at what meaning would fit the "who" shall not go near
, it is obvious that none of the other tribes could go near the Tent of Meeting, because they are not Priests.
hwhy used the Priests to dwell around the Tent of Appointment as a means of protection and buffer from anyone tempting to get near it and defile, or, profane it. So in my opinion, it would have been better to use the word "profaner" than "stranger".

For your interest, anyone remember the old TV series "Zorro"? He was a masked Mexican during the ninetenth century doing justice with his sword. You could say that Zorro was the Mexican's version of the Lone Ranger. He was a "stranger" to the people because he wore a mask. A lot of Mexicans are descended from the Sefardic Jews that came from Spain to Central America as early as the 1490's, and in time, the Hebrew language mixed in with the native language in the land. Hence, the Spanish name "Zorro" would have most likely came from the Hebrew word "zoor".

In verses thirty nine through fifty of this week's Torah portion passage, we can calculate the total of the first born males of the Israelites to the Levites, and the difference via the silver shekels:

Israelite First Born Males: 22,273
Levite Males: 22,000
Total Silver Shekels (at five shekels per first born): 1,365 (372 x 5), or 27,300 Silver Gerahs (1,365 x 20)

Notice the amount of the Israelites that are more than the Levites and the amount of the silver of redemption, but also notice how the order of the denominations stated? They started from the smallest denomination to the largest, whereas the totals in the past two chapters of this week's Torah portion started from the largest denominations to the smallest. Why did hwhy allow the orders of the numbers of the overplus amounts to go in the opposite route? I don't have an answer at this time.

Verses forty four and forty five

44 And hwhy spoke to Moses, to say, 45 Take ta-the Levites instead of every firstborn among the Sons of Israel, and ta-the animals of the Levites instead of their animals; and the Levites, they shall belong to Me: I am hwhy.

Spiritually, when we as believers accepted Yeshua, the Messiah, in our hearts, we became a Kingdom of Priests to
hwhy, through Yeshua, which the apostle John noted in the book of Revelation

Revelation 1:5 And from Yeshua Messiah, who is the Faithful Witness, and the First Begotten of the dead, and the Prince of the kings of the earth. Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own Blood, 6 And hath made us kings and priests unto hwhy and His Father; to Him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

CHAPTER 4
Numbers 4:1-20

Num 4:1 And
hwhy spoke to Moses and to Aaron, to say, 2 Lift up (bear) ta-the heads of the sons of Kohath from the midst of the sons of Levi, by their families, by the house of their fathers, 3 from a son of thirty years and the upward (ascending), and unto a son of fifty years, of all entering to the Army (Mustering, Mass) to do the Work in the Tent of Appointment.

ta-all the Vessels of the Ministry, which they minister among them in the Sacredness (Sacred Area, Sanctuary), and they shall give to a Garment of blue, and they shall cover (conceal) them among a Covering (Concealing) of skins of clean animals, (kosher animals, antelopes, dugongs, ?waterproofing animal skins?, ?badgers?), and they shall give them upon the Yoke (Sliding Pole, Staff, Bent Pole?):

13 And they shall ash remove
ta-the Altar, and they shall spread upon him a Garment of purple: 14 And they shall give upon him ta-all of his Vessels, which they shall minister (attend) upon him among them, ta-the Firepans (Coal Removal Pans, Snuff Dishes), ta-the Fleshhooks, and ta-the Shovels, and ta-the Sprinkling Bowls (Sacrificial Bowls), all of the Vessels of the Altar; and they shall spread upon him a Covering (Concealing) of skins of kosher animals (clean animals, antelopes, ?waterproofing animal skins?), and they shall set up his Poles.

15 And Aaron and his sons have finished to cover (conceal)

These are the Burdens (Bearings) of the sons of Kohath in the Tent of Appointment.

16 And the Visit (Oversight, Account) of Eleazar, son of Aaron, the Priest, shall be the Oil of the Light, and the Incense of the Sweetness (Aroma), and the Continual Donation Offering [(Continual Tribute Offering, Continual Food Offering, Continual Grain Offering, Continual Apportion Offering), and the Oil of the Anointing, shall visit (oversee, account) all of the Tabernacle, and all which are in him in the Sacredness (Sacred Area, Sanctuary), and his Vessels.

17 And
hwhy spoke to Moses and to Aaron, to say, 18 You shall not cut off ta-the tribe of the families of the Kohathites from the midst of the Levites: 19 And they shall do this to them, and they shall live, and they shall not die, in their approaching ta-the Sacred (Holy) of the Sacreds (Holies) [(Sacred of the Sacreds, Holy of the Holies)]: Aaron and his sons, they shall enter, and they shall set them a man, a man, upon his Service and to his Burden (Bearing): 20 And they shall not enter to see, as making away (swallowing, devouring ?digesting?) ta-the Sacred Things (Holy Things), and they would die.

(NOTE: Not all verses will have comments)

Verses one through three

1 And hwhy spoke to Moses and to Aaron, to say, 2 Lift up (bear) ta-the heads of the sons of Kohath from the midst of the sons of Levi, by their families, by the house of their fathers, 3 from a son of thirty years and the upward (ascending), and unto a son of fifty years, of all entering to the Army (Mustering, Mass) to do the Work in the Tent of Appointment.

If the Israelites who were as old as 120 years could go to war, why wouldn't
hwhy allow to Kohathites above fifty years old to work for the Vessels of the Tabernacle? Why did hwhy retire the Kohathites' service after fifty years? There is scripture regarding the Levites after they turned fifty years old, which it is noted in the Torah portion of B'ha-alothkhah, in the book of Numbers

Numbers 8:23 And hwhy spoke to Moses, to say, 24 This is which belongs to the Levites: from a son of five and twenty years and the upward shall go in to muster (amassing, arming) an Army (a Muster, A Mass, a Campaign) in the Service of the Tent of Appointment: 25 and from a son of fifty years shall return from the Campaign of the Service, and shall not serve anymore (again): 26 And ta-his brothers shall minister in the Tent of Appointment, to keep the Charge, and shall not serve the Service. As thus you shall not do to the Levites on (in) their charge (keeping).

Does this apply to the Kohathites as well? It is most likely that it does.

These are the simplifications of the responsibilitites of each of the Levitical tribes:

THE PLAN OF AARON AND HIS SONS TO STACK UP THE EQUIPMENT OF THE TABERNACLE, AND THEIR ORDER:

I. THE ARK OF THE TESTIMONY

1st: Covering Veil
2nd: Antelope skins
3rd: Blue Garment
4th: His Poles

II. THE TABLE OF THE FACES

1st: Blue Garment
2nd: Dishes, Spoons, Bowls and Cups for the Drink Offering
3rd: Continual Bread
4th: Garment of the crimson worm
5th: Kosher Animal skins
6th: His Poles

III. THE MENORAH AND HER VESSELS

1st: Blue Garment
2nd: His Staff

IV. THE GOLDEN ALTAR

1st: Blue Garment
2nd: Kosher Animal skins
3rd: His Staff

V. THE VESSELS OF THE MINISTRY FOR THE SANCTUARY

1st: Garment of blue
2nd: Kosher Animal skins
3rd: Put them upon a Staff

VI. THE ALTAR

1st: Remove ashes
2nd: Garment of purple
3rd: Firepans, Fleshhooks, Shovels and Sprinkling Bowls
4th: Kosher Animal skins
5th: His Poles

THEIR SYMBOLIC MEANINGS:

Blue: Heaven
Purple: Royalty

Crimson worm: Blood, Atonement, Sacrifice
Antelope's Skins: Sacrificial (source: maranathalife.com)
Staff/Poles: Shepherd

Notice that all of these six compilations end with a staff or a pole, which are "staff-like" items exposed on top.
hwhy is telling us that He is revealing His occupation as "the Shepherd", and is also identifying the Israelites as "the Shepherds", as the staffs were one of the requirements for them to bear during the Exodus Passover, which is noted in the Torah portion of Bo, in the book of Exodus

Exodus 12:11 And according to [(as)] thus, you shall eat him with your loins (waist) girded, your sandals on your feet, and your shoots (sticks, germinated sticks) in your hand; And you shall eat him in haste (hasty flight): He is the Passover to hwhy.

This makes sense, because the Israelites are "sojourning", in which the shepherds need their staffs with them while traveling along with their sheep. This is manifested when Yeshua, "the Living Tabernacle in Flesh", revealed Himself as "the Shepherd", which is noted in the Gospel of John

John 10:1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. 2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. 4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. 5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. 6 This Parable spake Yeshua unto them: but they understood not what things they were which He spake unto them. 7 Then said Yeshua unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the Door of the sheep. 8 All that ever came before Me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. 9 I am the Door: by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have Life, and that they might have it more abundantly. 11 I am the Good Shepherd: the Good Shepherd giveth His Life for the Sheep. 12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. 13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep. 14 I am the Good Shepherd, and know My Sheep, and am known of Mine. 15 As the Father knoweth Me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down My Life for the Sheep. 16 And other Sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear My Voice; and there shall be one Fold, and One Shepherd. 17 Therefore doth My Father love Me, because I lay down My Life, that I might take It again. 18 No man taketh It from Me, but I lay It down of Myself. I have power to lay It down, and I have power to take It again. This Commandment have I received of My Father.

By the way, when Yeshua said in verse sixteen of John's passage that there are other Sheep I have which are not of this fold, this includes the lost Ten Northern Tribes of Israel who were divorced by
hwhy around 732 BC, whom Yeshua wants to return to His Sheepfold again.

That ends this week's Torah portion commentary.
