NOTE: All of the yous and yours underlined as "you" and "your" indicates that the you and the your are plural. Also any of the words that are in bold pink lettering as "you" refers to the feminine gender, but it is only applied when it does not commonly refer to a woman. This only is applied to this week's Torah portion text at this time.
CHAPTER 7
Deuteronomy 7:12-26
Deu 7:12 And shall be, because (the result) of your hearing of Aleph-Tav these Judgments, and you shall guard (keep, observe, heed), and you shall do them, and YHWH, your Elohim, shall guard (keep, observe, heed) to you Aleph-Tav-the Covenant and Aleph-Tav-the Kindness which were sworn to your fathers: 13 and will love you, and will bless you, and will multiply you: and will bless the fruit of your womb, and the fruit of your Ground, your grain, and your new wine (grape juice), and your fresh pressed oil [(glistened oil)], the ejecting out (increase) of your tamed oxen, and the accumulation (richness) of your flock, upon the Ground which were sworn to your fathers to give to you. 14 You shall be blessed from all of the peoples: a barren man and a barren woman shall not be among you and among your animals. 15 And YHWH will turn away (turn aside) from you every weakness (calamity, anxiety) and every disease (grief) of Egypt of the evils which you have known, shall not put them on you; and shall give them on all of your haters. 16 And you shall consume Aleph-Tav-all of the peoples which YHWH, your Elohim, is giving to you; You shall not pity (spare) your eye upon them: and you shall not serve Aleph-Tav-their elohim; for he shall be a snare to you. 17 For you shall say in your heart, These nations are multiple than I; how shall I be able to dispossess them? 18 You shall not fear from them: remembering, you shall remember Aleph-Tav which YHWH, your Elohim, did to Pharaoh and to all of Egypt; 19 of the Great Temptations [(Great Trials)] which your eyes have seen, and the Signs, and the Miracles (Wonders), and the Strong Hand, and the Outstretched Arm which YHWH, your Elohim, brought you out: so YHWH, your Elohim, shall do to all of the peoples which you are fearing from their face. 20 And also YHWH, your Elohim, shall send Aleph-Tav-the hornets (wasps, leprosy) against them, until the ones remaining and the ones hiding from your face shall perish. 21 You shall not be terrified (harassed, shaken) from their face: for YHWH, your Elohim, a Great and Fearful El, is in your nearness. 22 And YHWH, your Elohim, shall pluck out Aleph-Tav-these nations a little bit, a little bit, from your face: you will not make ability at finishing them hastily, lest (facing) the beasts of the field shall multiply upon you. 23 And YHWH, your Elohim, shall give them up to your face, and shall discomfit (disturb) them with a great discomfiting (disturbance) until they are destroyed (desolated), 24 and shall give their kings in your hand, and you shall make perish Aleph-Tav-their name from under the Heavens: you shall not have a man stand against (among) your face, until you have destroyed (desolated) them. 25 You shall burn up the vessel images (carved images) of their elohim in the fire: you shall not desire (covet) the silver and the gold upon them, and you shall not take for yourself, lest you be snared against him: for he is an abomination of YHWH, your Elohim. 26 And you shall not bring an abomination to your house, and you will be blunted (flattened) like him: abhoring (loathing), you shall abhor (loathe) him, and detesting, you shall detest him; for he is blunted (flattened, a blunted thing, a flattened thing).
(NOTE: Not all verses will have comments)
To begin, I noticed that there are many times throughout the book of Deuteronomy so far that Moses says, in the King James Version, "YAH, thy Elohim" or "YHWH, your Elohim", meaning you in the plural form. I searched on the amount of times in each book in the Tanakh, and this is what I found:
YHWH, YOUR ELOHIM (AS "THE LORD THY GOD"):
Genesis: 1 time
Exodus: 9 times
Deuteronomy: 233 times
Joshua: 4 times
Judges: 1 time
1 Samuel: 6 times
2 Samuel: 5 times
1 Kings: 7 times
2 Kings: 2 times
1 Chronicles: 3 times
2 Chronicles: 3 times
Psalms: 1 time
Isaiah: 9 times
Jeremiah: 7 times
Hosea: 3 times
Amos: 1 time
Micah: 1 time
Zephaniah: 1 time
YHWH, YOUR ELOHIM (AS "THE LORD YOUR GOD"):
Exodus: 7 times
Leviticus: 24 times
Numbers: 4 times
Deuteronomy: 47 times
Joshua: 28 times
Judges: 1 time
1 Samuel: 2 times
2 Kings: 2 times
1 Chronicles: 4 times
2 Chronicles: 5 times
Nehemiah: 2 times
Psalms: 1 time
Jeremiah: 6 times
Ezekiel: 4 times
Joel: 7 times
Zechariah: 1 time
TOTAL OF THE TWO PHRASES COMBINED:
Genesis: 1 time
Exodus: 16 times
Leviticus: 24 times
Numbers: 4 times
Deuteronomy: 280 times
Joshua: 32 times
Judges: 2 times
1 Samuel: 8 times
2 Samuel: 5 times
1 Kings: 7 times
2 Kings: 4 times
1 Chronicles: 7 times
2 Chronicles: 8 times
Nehemiah: 2 times
Psalms: 2 times
Isaiah: 9 times
Jeremiah: 13 times
Ezekiel: 4 times
Hosea: 3 times
Joel: 7 times
Amos: 1 time
Micah: 1 time
Zephaniah: 1 time
Zechariah: 1 time
None of the other books in the Tanakh came close to the amount of times in the book of Deuteronomy with the two phrases combined. The next closest is in Joshua which has only thirty two. Moses kept reminding the Israelites throughout this book that YHWH is their Elohim and kept repeating it over and over in their heads, because Moses knew his time of life was ending. He was repeating YHWH's Name to them to make the Israelites revere His Name.
Verse twelve
12 And shall be, because (the result) of your hearing of Aleph-Tav these Judgments, and you shall guard (keep, observe, heed), and you shall do them, and YHWH, your Elohim, shall guard (keep, observe, heed) to you Aleph-Tav-the Covenant and Aleph-Tav-the Kindness which were sworn to your fathers:
Looking at the word BECAUSE
The Hebrew word for because is "ey-kehv"- Ayin, Kuph, Bet (bqe). It is from Strong's Concordance number 6118, and its definition
From H6117 in the sense of H6119; a heel, that is, (figuratively) the last of anything (used adverbially for ever); also result, that is, compensation; and so (adverbially with preposition or relatively) on account of: - X because, by, end, for, if, reward.
from 6117 "ah-kahv" ( bqe), and its definition
A primitive root; properly to swell out or up; used only as denominative from H6119, to seize by the heel; figuratively to circumvent (as if tripping up the heels); also to restrain (as if holding by the heel): - take by the heel, stay, supplant, X utterly.
This is the same word for heel, which was part of Jacob's Hebrew name "Ya-ah-kohv", meaning "hand on the heel" (bqey), because the Yod in his name is a Paleo-Hebrew picture of a "hand". When one puts a foot to the ground, the first part of the foot that touches the ground is the heel. The foot is a connective traction factor to the ground, so is the word for this Torah portion "because" which is a conjunction. In general, the word "because", like the "heel", is the first part of a grammatic connective factor, symbolizing one traction toward the direction of one's walk based on its previous location. Monte Judah of Lion and Lamb Ministries noted that "ey-kehv" relating to the heel is an act to walking forward in hwhy and to put one's heel down in obeying YHWH. We as believers in Messiah are to also walk in Yeshua via the Ruakh HaKodesh (the Holy Spirit) by acting on our heels, "because" it is the right thing to do. Thank you Monte.
Verse thirteen
13 and will love you, and will bless you, and will multiply you: and will bless the fruit of your womb, and the fruit of your Ground, your grain, and your new wine (grape juice), and your fresh pressed oil [(glistened oil)], the ejecting out (increase) of your tamed oxen, and the accumulation (richness) of your flock, upon the Ground which were sworn to your fathers to give to you.
Looking at the word WOMB
The Hebrew word for womb is "beh-tehn"- Bet, Tet, Nun Sophit (Njb). It is from Strong's Concordance number 990, and its definition
From an unused root probably meaning to be hollow; the belly, especially the womb; also the bosom or body of anything: - belly, body, + as they be born, + within, womb.
Some translators interpreted this Hebrew word as body, and it could also be interpreted as belly, meaning being filled. But the context paralelling with the rest of the verse is best translated as "womb", meaning that the fruit of a woman's womb's purpose is to bear children, mainly sons, which is the main culture's purpose throughout Bliblical history, then the grain and the animals. This Hebrew word is where we get our modern English word "button", in the contextual connection, our "belly button", where the womb and belly are located.
Verse sixteen
The Hebrew word for he is "hoo"- Heh, Vav, Aleph (awh). It is commonly translated in the English version bibles as "it", but Mark Biltz of El Shaddai Ministries noted that there are no "its" but male or female pronouns, like "he", or "her", or "she" (The feminine form of this word is "hee"- Heh, Yod, Aleph (ayh)). This word is translated as "he", and who is the he in this verse? He is "HaSatan". What this week's Torah portion passage is saying is that HaSatan will be a snare to them. I accept Mark Biltz's premise, because there are so many revealing connective things that the English translations fail to show through their interpretation of this word. Thank you Mark.
Verse eighteen
18 You shall not fear from them: remembering, you shall remember Aleph-Tav which YHWH, your Elohim, did to Pharaoh and to all of Egypt;
Monte Judah of Lion and Lamb Ministries noted that Egypt, in Hebrew "Meets-rah-yeem", means "trials and tribulations". We who accepted Yeshua came out from the spiritual Egyptian world from their trials and tribualtions. Thank you Monte.
Verse twenty
20 And also YHWH, your Elohim, shall send Aleph-Tav-the hornets (wasps, leprosy) against them, until the ones remaining and the ones hiding from your face shall perish.
Indirectly related, this week's Torah portion passage could connect to a prophecy in the end times regarding those who do not have YHWH's Name written on their foreheads, which is noted by the apostle John, in the book of Revelation:
THOSE WHO HIDE THEMSELVES
Revelation 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; 13 And the stars of the heavens fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. 14 And the heavens departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. 15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of Him that sitteth on the Throne, and from the Wrath of the Lamb: 17 For the Great Day of His Wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
THOSE THAT ARE LIKE HORNETS
Revelation 9:1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from the heavens unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. 2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. 3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. 4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the Seal of hwhy in their foreheads. 5 And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. 6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. 7 And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. 8 And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. 9 And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. 10 And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months.
Verse twenty two
22 And YHWH, your Elohim, shall pluck out Aleph-Tav-these nations a little bit, a little bit, from your face: you will not make ability at finishing them hastily, lest (facing) the beasts of the field shall multiply upon you.
The reason, because if the enemies were killed in haste, the wild animals that eat flesh would see all of those corpses, and would think that there is plenty of food, and would produce more wild animal offspring to offset the plenty of dead carcasses the people of Israel would slaughter. This is hwhy's act of animal population control.
Verses twenty five and twenty six
25 You shall burn up the vessel images (carved images) of their elohim in the fire: you shall not desire (covet) the silver and the gold upon them, and you shall not take for yourself, lest you be snared against him: for he is an abomination of YHWH, your Elohim. 26 And you shall not bring an abomination to your house, and you will be blunted (flattened) like him: abhoring (loathing), you shall abhor (loathe) him, and detesting, you shall detest him; for he is blunted (flattened, a blunted thing, a flattened thing).
This is another example of "he" and "him" being "HaSatan" as noted in verse sixteen of this week's Torah portion chapter, which in this case was the application of idols. Tying these three verses of this week's Torah portion passage together, we get the negative and evil aspects relating to the First and Second Words (Commandments). Verse sixteen of this week's Torah portion passage is the basis of the First Word (Commandment), becuase if one pities the person, it is an indirect act of believing the person through the sparing of that person's life.
The prophet Samuel rebuked King Saul for pitying King Agag and not killing him, hence breaking the First Word (Commandment) to believe in YHWH's Word through the prophet Samuel to kill King Agag. By sparing King Agag, King Saul shifted his belief in YHWH to believing in his own reasoning and believing in the people and allowing King Agag to be spared, ultimately breaking his relationship with YHWH and Samuel, which resulted in losing his kingship in the end. This is what happened some time after Samuel was told he would lose the kingship and would be given to another, which is noted in the book of the prophet Samuel
1 Samuel 16:13 Then Samuel took Aleph-Tav-the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of YHWH came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah. 14 But the Spirit of YHWH departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from Aleph-Tav YHWH troubled him.
An evil spirit came onto King Saul, becuase of his unbelief.
Continuing, the issue of the Second Word (Commandment) was the issue of the Canaanite idols that were made of gold and silver. At that time, idols were taken verious seriously and were a big deal in the nations. Though they were only metal, the people worshipped them, but because they did, it caused evil spirits to exist in those idols. Those idols will lead them to believe in HaSatan.
Indirectly related, one person affected the people of Israel causing from getting favor from YHWH by taking the gold and silver when he was told not to take them, which is noted in the book of Joshua
Joshua 7:1 And the Sons of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the Anger of YHWH was kindled against the Sons of Israel. 2 And Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Bethaven, on the east side of Bethel, and spake unto them, saying, Go up and view Aleph-Tav-the land. And the men went up and viewed Aleph-Tav-Ai. 3 And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the People go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Aleph-Tav-Ai; and make not Aleph-Tav-all of the people to labour thither; for they are but few. 4 So there went up thither of the People about three thousand men: and they fled before the men of Ai. 5 And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six men: for they chased them from before the gate even unto Shebarim, and smote them in the going down: wherefore the hearts of the People melted, and became as water. 6 And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the Ark of YHWH until the mixing period (evening), he and the Elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads. 7 And Joshua said, Alas, O Adonai YHWH, wherefore hast Thou at all brought Aleph-Tav-this People over Aleph-Tav-Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? Would to Him we had been content, and dwelt on the other side Jordan! 8 O Adonai, what shall I say, when Israel turneth their backs before their enemies! 9 For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall environ us round, and cut off Aleph-Tav-our name from the earth: and what wilt thou do unto Thy Great Name? 10 And YHWH said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face? 11 Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed Aleph-Tav-My Covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff. 12 Therefore the Sons of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you. 13 Up, sanctify Aleph-Tav-the People, and say, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow: for thus saith YHWH, Elohim of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you. 14 In the breaking period (morning) therefore ye shall be brought according to your tribes: and it shall be, that the tribe which YHWH taketh shall come according to the families thereof; and the family which YHWH shall take shall come by households; and the household which YHWH shall take shall come man by man. 15 And it shall be, that he that is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and Aleph-Tav-all that he hath: because he hath transgressed Aleph-Tav-the Covenant of YHWH, and because he hath wrought folly in Israel. 16 And Joshua rose up early in the morning, and brought Aleph-Tav-Israel by their tribes; and the tribe of Judah was taken: 17 And he brought Aleph-Tav-the family of Judah; and he took Aleph-Tav-the family of the Zarhites: and he brought Aleph-Tav-the family of the Zarhites man by man; and Zabdi was taken: 18 And he brought Aleph-Tav-his household man by man; and Achan, son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken. 19 And Joshua said unto Achan, My son, give now Glory to YHWH, Elohim of Israel, and make confession unto Him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me. 20 And Achan answered Aleph-Tav-Joshua, and said, Indeed I have sinned against YHWH, Elohim of Israel, and as thus, and as thus, have I done: 21 When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it. 22 And Joshua sent messengers, and they ran unto the tent; and, behold, it was hid in his tent, and the silver under it. 23 And they took them out of the midst of the tent, and brought them unto Joshua, and unto all the Sons of Israel, and laid them out towards the Face of YHWH. 24 And Joshua, and all of Israel with him, took Aleph-Tav-Achan, son of Zerah, and Aleph-Tav-the silver, and Aleph-Tav-the garment, and Aleph-Tav-the wedge of gold, and Aleph-Tav-his sons, and Aleph-Tav-his daughters, and Aleph-Tav-his oxen, and Aleph-Tav-his asses, and Aleph-Tav-his sheep, and Aleph-Tav-his tent, and Aleph-Tav-all that he had: and they brought them unto the valley of Achor. 25 And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? YHWH shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones. 26 And they raised over him a great heap of stones unto this day. And YHWH turned from the fierceness of His Anger. Upon thus the name of that place, he was called the Valley of Achor, unto this day.
What Achor did caused YHWH to turn His blessing and protection away from Israel, and after Achor and all of his household was killed, YHWH's Anger turned away. This is just one example. Question: "Why wasn't Aachor's wife not mentioned on the list to be killed"? I don't have an answer to this at this time. In today's society, there are satanic elements and items which look innocent that are involved by HaSatan and his demons. One of the most popular examples is the Ouiji board. Another subtile example is the popular practice of Yoga, which is a perverse pagan religious activity, but it is an ancient Middle East ritual, which one is to connect without YHWH/Yeshua involved, which is Anti-Messiah. You can read about this practice at Wikipedia's webpage by clicking at the link below.
CHAPTER 8
Deuteronomy 8:1-20
Deu 8:1 All of the Commandment which I am commanding you the day (today), you shall guard (keep, observe, heed) to do, by that, you will live, and you will multiply, and you will enter and you will possess (occupy) Aleph-Tav-the land which YHWH has sworn to your fathers. 2 And you shall remember Aleph-Tav-all of the way which YHWH, your Elohim, made you walk this forty years in the wilderness, by that, to humble you, to test (tempt, try) you to know of yourself Aleph-Tav-which is in your heart, that you are guarding (keeping, observing, heeding) His Commandments, if not. 3 And famined you [(And made you hunger)], and made you eat Aleph-Tav-the mahn (manna) which you had not known and your fathers had not known, by that at making you know for the Adam shall not live upon the bread by his aloneness, for upon everything coming out the Mouth of YHWH shall the Adam live. 4 Your clothing did not fail (decay) from upon you, and your foot did not blister (swell) of her this forty years, 5 and you have known with your heart for as the which a man shall chastise (correct) Aleph-Tav-his son, so shall YHWH, your Elohim, chastise (correct) you. 6 And you shall guard (keep, observe, heed) [(have guarded (kept, observed, heeded)] Aleph-Tav-the Commandments of YHWH, your Elohim, to walk in His Ways, and to revere (give awe, fear) Him. 7 For YHWH, your Elohim, is with bringing you to a Good Land, a land of torrents of water, of eye-fountains and depths going out (springing out) among of split valleys (break open valleys) and among the mountain areas; 8 a land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranate trees; a land of olive oil, and honey (thickness); 9 a land which you shall not eat bread among her in indigence (scarceness). You shall not be of want (lack) of anything in her; a land which stones of her are of iron, and from the mountain areas of her you shall mine out (hew out) copper. 10 And you shall eat, and you shall be satisfied, and you shall bless Aleph-Tav-YHWH, your Elohim, upon the Good Land which shall be given to you.
11 Guard (Beware, Take heed, Observe, Beware) to yourself, lest (facing) you forget Aleph-Tav-YHWH, your Elohim, by failing at guarding (keeping, observing, heeding) His Commandments, and His Judgments (Ordinances), and His Statutes, which I am commanding you today: 12 lest (facing) you eat and you are satisfied, and you build goodly houses, and you dwell; 13 and your herds and your flocks multiply, and silver and gold was multiplied to you, and all which belongs to you has multiplied; 14 and your heart shall arise, and you shall forget Aleph-Tav-YHWH, your Elohim, that brought you out from the land of Egypt, from the house of slaves (bondage); 15 that made you walk in the great and fearful wilderness of fiery (burning) serpents, and scorpions, and thirst (drought), which was no water; that brought out water for you from the rock; 16 that fed you mahn (manna) in the wilderness, which your fathers had not known, by that at humbling you, and by that at tempting (testing, trying) you, to do you good in the latter end; 17 and you say in your heart, My power and the boniness of my hand have done (made) [(ny hand did)] for me Aleph-Tav-this wealth. 18 And you shall remember Aleph-Tav-YHWH, your Elohim: for He is the One giving to you power to do (make) wealth, by that, the establishing of Aleph-Tav-His Covenant which had swore to your fathers as this day. 19 And shall be, if forgetting, you shall forget Aleph-Tav-YHWH, your Elohim, and you walk after other elohim, and you serve them, and you bow down to them, I will testify (witness) against you the day (today), for perishing, you will perish. 20 As the nations which YHWH perished from your face, so you shall perish; resulting (because) you did not listen in the Voice of YHWH, your Elohim.
(NOTE: Not all verses will have comments)
Verse two
2 And you shall remember Aleph-Tav-all of the way which YHWH, your Elohim, made you walk this forty years in the wilderness, by that, to humble you, to test (tempt, try) you to know of yourself Aleph-Tav-which is in your heart, that you are guarding (keeping, observing, heeding) His Commandments, if not.

EPHRAIM JUDAH
42 Journeys in the Wilderness UPDATE: This teaching is no longer available
Indirectly related, King David based this week's Torah portion passage, which is noted in the book of Psalms
Psalms 139:23 Search me, El, and know my heart: and test me, and know my thoughts: 24 And see if there be any griveous way in me, and lead me in the way of ages.
We as believers in the Messiah need to ask YHWH at times to search us and know our hearts, as YHWH did to the Israelites in the wilderness.
By the way (no pun intended) when it say "the way", it can say it this way:
2 And you shall remember Aleph-Tav-all of the Way which YHWH, your Elohim, made you walk this forty years in the wilderness,...
The "Way" is "Yeshua", which is noted in the Gospel of John
John 14:6 Yeshua saith unto him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.
Verse three
3 And famined you [(And made you hunger)], and made you eat Aleph-Tav-the mahn (manna) which you had not known and your fathers had not known, by that at making you know for the Adam shall not live upon the bread by his aloneness, for upon everything coming out the Mouth of YHWH shall the Adam live.
Yeshua used this very verse in His trial in the wilderness by the temptation of HaSatan, which is noted in the Gospel of Matthew
Matthew 4:1 Then was Yeshua led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 2 And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He was afterward an hungred. 3 And when the tempter came to Him, he said, If Thou be the Son of Elohim, command that these stones be made bread. 4 But He answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the Mouth of hwhy.
Yeshua went through the wilderness for forty days, a day for a year, for the forty years that the Israelites wondered in the wilderness and were given manna. The Hebrew word for manna is "mahn"- Mem, Nun Sophit (Nm), Yeshua became "the Living Man" (the Living Manna), the fulfillment of "the Man" or "the Symbolic Word", which Yeshua noted Himself as the Manna, which is noted in the Gospel of John
John 6:30 They said therefore unto Him, What Sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe Thee? What dost Thou work? 31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from the Heavens to eat. 32 Then Yeshua said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from the Heavens; but My Father giveth you the True Bread from the Heavens. 33 For the Bread of YHWH is He which cometh down from the Heavens, and giveth Life unto the world. 34 Then said they unto Him, Lord, evermore give us this Bread. 35 And Yeshua said unto them, I am the Bread of Life: he that cometh to Me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on Me shall never thirst. 36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen Me, and believe not. 37 All that the Father giveth Me shall come to Me; and him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out. 38 For I came down from the heavens, not to do Mine own will, but the Will of Him that sent Me. 39 And this is the Father's Will which hath sent Me, that of all which He hath given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise him up again at the last day. 40 And this is the Will of Him that sent Me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have Everlasting Life: and I will raise Him up at the last day. 41 The Jews then murmured at Him, because he said, I am the Bread which came down from the heavens. 42 And they said, Is not this Yeshua, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How is it then that He saith, I came down from the Heavens? 43 Yeshua therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves. 44 No man can come to Me, except the Father which hath sent Me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. 45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of YHWH. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto Me. 46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save He which is of YHWH, He hath seen the Father. 47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on Me hath Everlasting Life. 48 I am that Bread of Life. 49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. 50 This is the Bread which cometh down from the Heavens, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. 51 I am the Living Bread which came down from the Heavens: if any man eat of this Bread, he shall live for ever: and the Bread that I will give is My Flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. 52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this Man give us His Flesh to eat? 53 Then Yeshua said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the Flesh of the Son of Man, and drink His Blood, ye have no life in you. 54 Whoso eateth My Flesh, and drinketh My Blood, hath Eternal Life; and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For My Flesh is Food indeed, and My Blood is Drink indeed. 56 He that eateth My Flesh, and drinketh My Blood, dwelleth in Me, and I in him. 57 As the Living Father hath sent Me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth Me, even he shall live by Me. 58 This is that Bread which came down from the Heavens: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this Bread shall live for ever. 59 These things said He in the synagogue, as He taught in Capernaum.
As the Israelites ate the manna, the symbol of Yeshua, during their journey in the wilderness which was their sufficency and their necessity, so is Yeshua, our Living Manna, our sufficiency and our necessity in our lives as believers in the Messiah.
Verse four
4 Your clothing did not fail (decay) from upon you, and your foot did not blister (swell) of her this forty years,
This is a miracle that the Israelites experienced during their forty years journey in the wilderness.
One can tie this week's Torah portion passage to Yeshua's statement, which is noted in the Gospel of Matthew
Matthew 6:25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than food, and the body than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your Heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all of his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Wherefore, if hwhy so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your Heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the Kingdom of hwhy, and His Righteousness; and all of these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
In relation, Yeshua could have most likely based this Gospel passage from this week's Torah portion passage.
Verses five and six
5 and you have known with your heart for as the which a man shall chastise (correct) Aleph-Tav-his son, so shall YHWH, your Elohim, chastise (correct) you. 6 And you shall guard (keep, observe, heed) [(have guarded (kept, observed, heeded)] Aleph-Tav-the Commandments of YHWH, your Elohim, to walk in His Ways, and to revere (give awe, fear) Him.
The word "corrects" in verse five of this week's Torah portion passage is the same word from the Hebrew text that means "chastise".
Indirectly related, the apostle Paul noted about us as believers being chastised, or corrected, which is noted in the book of the Hebrews
Hebrews 12:5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the Chastening of YHWH, nor faint when thou art rebuked of Him: 6 For whom YHWH loveth He chasteneth and scourgeth every son whom He receiveth. 7 If ye endure chastening, YHWH dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? 8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. 9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? 10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but He for our profit, that we might be partakers of His Holiness. 11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
I was going through this experience at times myself, and when I found these verses and read them, they witnessed to my heart.
David was chastened when he went into Bathsheba, but the most notable person that went through chastisement is Job. You can read the book of Job on your own time. Basically, he stayed focused on YHWH in spite of his chastisement until YHWH showed him that he had a pride issue, and repented from it.
Verse sixteen
16 that fed you mahn (manna) in the wilderness, which your fathers had not known, by that at humbling you, and by that at tempting (testing, trying) you, to do you good in the latter end;
In the Brith Khadashah (the New Covenant), we as believers in Yeshua go through spiritual trials until we just have "the Word" to be our sufficiency, which the apostle Paul noted in his letter to the assembly in Corinth
1 Corinthians 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Yeshua, the Messiah. 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. 16 Know ye not that ye are the Temple of YHWH, and that the Spirit of YHWH dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the Temple of YHWH, him shall YHWH destroy; for the Temple of YHWH is Holy, which Temple ye are.
The apostle Peter also spoke directly about being tried and tested in the fire, which is noted in his epistle
1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the Elohim and Father of our Lord Yeshua, the Messiah, which according to His Abundant Mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the Resurrection of Yeshua, the Messiah, from the dead, 4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in the heavens for you, 5 Who are kept by the Power of YHWH through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: 7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Yeshua, the Messiah: 8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see Him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: 9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
Verse seventeen
17 and you say in your heart, My power and the boniness of my hand have done (made) [(ny hand did)] for me Aleph-Tav-this wealth.
King Nebuchadnezer had a dream which the prophet Daniel interpreted that in one year, King Nebuchadnezer was to wonder like an animal in the fields for seven years. When the one year had just about ended, this is what King Nebuchadnezer said to himself before he was to wander in the fields for seven years like an animal, which is noted in the book of the prophet Daniel
Daniel 4:24 This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the Most High, which is come upon my lord the king: 25 That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of the heavens, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the Most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever He will. 26 And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots; thy kingdom shall be sure unto thee, after that thou shalt have known that the heavens do rule. 27 Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity. 28 All this came upon the King Nebuchadnezzar. 29 At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon. 30 The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty? 31 While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from the heavens, saying, O King Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee. 32 And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the Most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever He will. 33 The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails like birds' claws.
Verses nineteen and twenty
19 And shall be, if forgetting, you shall forget Aleph-Tav-YHWH, your Elohim, and you walk after other elohim, and you serve them, and you bow down to them, I will testify (witness) against you the day (today), for perishing, you will perish. 20 As the nations which YHWH perished from your face, so you shall perish; resulting (because) you did not listen in the Voice of YHWH, your Elohim.
In other words, Moses was telling the Israelites that if they forget YHWH and serve other elohim (the First and Second Words (Commandments)) that they will be destroyed by the nations around them, because they did not listen to the Voice of YHWH, their Elohim. This was a very harsh warning to them, but that was the key for them, to hear the "Voice" of YHWH. The Israelites were afraid to hear the Voice of YHWH at Mount Sinai, which is noted in the Torah portion of Ythro, in the book of Exodus
Exodus 20:18 And all of the People saw Aleph-Tav-the sounds, and Aleph-Tav-the flashings, and Aleph-Tav the sound of the Shofar, and Aleph-Tav-the mountain smoking: and the People saw, and they moved back (staggered, staggered back), and they stood from a distance. 19 And they said to Moses, You speak with us, and we will listen: And let not Elohim speak with us, facing (lest) we die [(facing (lest) we be the death)]. 20 And Moses said to the People, Do you not fear: for by in order (in over) The Elohim has come to test (try, prove) you, and in order (in over) His Reverence (Aweness, Fear), she may be upon your faces, by failing you at sinning. 21 And the People stood from a distance, and Moses approached to the gloominess (thickness, dark) which The Elohim was there.
How were they going to hear the voice of Elohim if they told Moses to hear Him for them? Even Moses said this to them, which is noted in the Torah portion of Vay-Yeyleykh, in the book of Deuteronomy:
Deuteronomy 31:27 for I, I know Aleph-Tav-your rebellion and Aleph-Tav-the stiffness of your neck: behold, in my being still alive with you today, you have been rebellious with YHWH; and moreover (even, also) for after my death?!
Moses knew that most of them were not going to obey YHWH. How sad that was.
In verses eleven through eighteen of this week's Torah portion chapter, Moses warns the Israelites not to lift up their hearts and not take credit for what YHWH did for them in the wilderness, and providing them the ability to increase their inheritance, and eat and be satisfied, by not saying in their hearts that they did it themselves. This would be an act of pride. This would be an act against the Third Word (Commandment) by taking away the credit that YHWH rightly deserved, which is noted in the Torah portion of Yithro, in the book of Exodus
Exodus 20:7 You shall not lift up (bear, carry) Aleph-Tav-the Name of YHWH, your Elohim, for vanity (falsehood, useless, naught); for YHWH will not leave guiltless (innocent, unpunished) Aleph-Tav which lifts up (bear, carry) Aleph-Tav-His Name for vanity (falsehood, useless, naught).
Looking at the word VANITY (FALSEHOOD, USELESS, NOUGHT)
The Hebrew word for vanity (falsehood, uselessness, nought) is "shahv"- Shin, Vav or Shin, Vav, Aleph (ws or aws). It is from Strong's Concordance number 7723, and its definition
From the same as H7722 in the sense of desolating; evil (as destructive), literally (ruin) or morally (especially guile); figuratively idolatry (as false, subjectively), uselessness (as deceptive, objectively; also adverbially in vain): - false (-ly), lie, lying, vain, vanity.
from 7722 "shoh" or "shoh-ah" (aws or haws or has), and its definition
From an unused root meaning to rush over; a tempest; by implication devastation: - desolate (-ion), destroy, destruction, storm, wasteness.
It is commonly is interpreted as "vain", but one can take YHWH's name to meaninglessness, or in extreme, to nullify. We can say, based on this information, that Moses is saying to the Israelites not to break the Third Word (Commandment) to take YHWH's name to vanity through nullification.
CHAPTER 9
Deuteronomy 9:1-29
Deu 9:1 Hear, Israel, you are going over Aleph-Tav-the Jordan today to go (enter) to dispossess nations greater and bonier than you, cities great and walled up (isolated, fortified) in the Heavens, 2 A people great and tall, the sons of the Anakim of which you, you know, and you, you have heard. Who shall stand to the face of the sons of Anak? 3 And you will know the day (today), for YHWH, your Elohim, He is the One going over to your face; of a consuming fire He shall destroy them, and He shall subdue (humiliate, bend knee) them to your face: and you shall dispossess them, and you shall perish them hastily (quickly), as the which YHWH spoke to you. 4 You shall not say in your heart, YHWH, your Elohim, in pushing them out [(thrusting them out)] from your face, to say, In my righteousness has YHWH brought me to possess (occupy) Aleph-Tav this Land: and YHWH in dispossessing these nations from their wickedness from your face. 5 Not on your righteousness, and on the uprightness of your heart, are you going to possess (occupy) Aleph-Tav-their land: for on the wickedness of these nations YHWH, your Elohim, are with dispossessing from your face, and by that, establishing Aleph-Tav-the Word which YHWH swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. 6 And you shall know, for not on your righteousness YHWH, your Elohim, is giving to you Aleph-Tav-this Good Land to possess (occupy) her; for you are a stiff necked People.
7 Remember, do you not forget, Aleph-Tav which you made Aleph-Tav-YHWH, your Elohim wroth in the wilderness: for from the day which you came out from the land of Egypt, until you came unto this place, you have been rebellious with YHWH. 8 And in Horeb, you made Aleph-Tav-YHWH wroth, and have made YHWH angry against you to destroy (desolate) you. 9 In my ascending to the mountain to receive the Tablets of the Stones, the Tablets of the Covenant which YHWH cut with you, and I dwelled in the mountain forty days and forty nights, I did not eat bread, and I did not imbibe (drink) water: 10 and YHWH gave to me Aleph-Tav-the two YHWH of the Stones written on the Finger of Elohim; and upon them according to [(as)] all of the Words, which hwhy spoke with you in the mountain from the midst of the Fire in the day of the Assembly. 11 And was from the end of forty days and forty nights, YHWH gave me Aleph-Tav-the two Tablets of the Stones, the Tablets of the Covenant.
12 And YHWH said to me, Arise, descend (go down) hastily (quickly) from this; for your People have become corrupt, which you have brought out from Egypt; they bent turned away (turned aside) hastily quickly) from the way which I have commanded them; they have made themselves a casted image (molten image, poured image). 13 And YHWH said to me, to say, I have seen Aleph-Tav-this People, and, behold, he is a stiff-necked People: 14 Slack away (Be still, Cease) from Me, and I will destroy (desolate) them, and I will blot out Aleph-Tav-their name from under the Heavens: and I will make of you for a nation bonier and multipler (greater) than him. 15 And I faced away, and I descended (went down) from the mountain, and the mountain was kindling (fueling, burning, heating) in the Fire: and the two Tablets of the Covenant were upon my two hands. 16 And I looked, and behold, you had sinned to YHWH, your Elohim, and you had did (made) for yourselves a casted (molten, poured) calf: you have turned away (turned aside) hastily (quickly) from the way which YHWH had commanded you. 17 And I took hold on the two Tablets, and I threw (cast) them from upon my two hands, and I shever-broke them to your eyes.
18 And I fell down to the Face of YHWH forty days and forty nights, as the first: I did not eat bread, and I did not imbibe (drink) water, upon all of your sins which you had sinned, for doing the evil in the Eyes of YHWH, to make Him provoked (indignant). 19 For I was yagor-afraid from the face of the Anger and the Fury, which YHWH was wroth (cracked off, ticked off) upon you to destroy (desolate) you, and YHWH listened to me in that time also, 20 and YHWH was much angry against Aaron to destroy (desolate) him: and I interceded (prayed) also on unto Aaron in that time, 21 and Aleph-Tav-your sin, which you did (made) Aleph-Tav-the calf, I took and I burned him up in the fire, and I struck (beat) him, grounded good (well), until which was thin (fine) to dust: and I threw (cast) Aleph-Tav-his dust to the torrent that descended (came down) from the mountain.
22 And in Taberah, and in Massah, and in Kibroth-Hattaavah [(Graves of the Lust)], you made Aleph-Tav-YHWH wroth (cracked off, ticked off). 23 And in YHWH sending you from Kadesh at Barnea, to say, Ascend and possess (occupy) Aleph-Tav-the land which I have given to you; and you rebelled Aleph-Tav-the Mouth of YHWH, your Elohim, and you did not believe to Him, and you did not listen in His Voice. 24 You have been rebels with YHWH from the day I knew you, 25 and I fell down to the Face of YHWH Aleph-Tav the forty days and Aleph-Tav-the forty nights which I had fallen down; for YHWH had said to destroy (desolate) you. 26 And I interceded (prayed) to YHWH, and said, Adonai YHWH, Do you not make waste (ruin, corrupt) Your People and Your Inheritance which You have redeemed in Your Greatness, which You have brought out from Egypt on a Strong Hand. 27 Remember to Your servants, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; You do not face to the stubbornness of this People, and not his wickedness, and not his sin: 28 lest (facing) they say, the land which You brought us out from there, YHWH was with failure of ablility to bring them to the land which was spoken to them, and hating Him them, that were brought out, to the death of them [(to have them die)] in the wilderness, 29 and they are Your People and Your Inheritance, which You have brought out on Your Great Power and on Your Outstretched Arm.
(NOTE: Not all verses will have comments)
Verse three
3 And you will know the day (today), for YHWH, your Elohim, He is the One going over to your face; of a consuming fire He shall destroy them, and He shall subdue (humiliate, bend knee) them to your face: and you shall dispossess them, and you shall perish them hastily (quickly), as the which YHWH spoke to you.
Indirectly related, this is an aspect of YHWH using His Consuming Fire to destroy the peoples, as the apostle Paul noted this in the book of the Hebrews
Hebrews 12:26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now He hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also the heavens. 27 And this Word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Wherefore we receiving a Kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve YHWH acceptably with reverence and godly fear: 29 For our Elohim is a Consuming Fire.
Notice in this week's Torah portion passage that the you is boldened in pink. In the Hebrew text the you is in the feminine gender. This tells us that YHWH spoke to the People's "soul", because the soul is feminine. To us as believers in the Messsiah, when the Heavenly Father speaks to us, He is speaking His Word to our souls.
